Isaiah 60:22 "The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation, I am the Lord; in it's time I will do this swiftly." (NIV)
Over the last two years, more than 570 passionate young people from different universities, denominational backgrounds and cultures have united around a common mission vision: To express God's love in a practical way by giving the first two weeks of their summer holidays to serve the community of Bulembu, a previously abandoned mining town in Swaziland.
In December 2008, 350 volunteers joined in on the first Swazi 1000 mission to Bulembu. Besides painting 12 community buildings, renovating two orphan homes, erecting a 1.6km dairy fence and painting 420 houses, these young people were challenged to live in radical devotion to God when they returned to their own communities. In 2009, 220 volunteers packed their tents and work gloves once again to set up camp in Bulembu from 28 November to 11 December.
Now we are heading back again and invite you to join us a for a life-cahnging experience...

Comments from previous participants:
"... As one walks down the hill from the tent camp there is a view of the colourful village. As one comes closer, the hive of activity unfolds as dirty volunteers happily go about doing what is needed on the particular day. Scrubbing showers, playing soccer with the children, removing alien vegetation, breaking down walls to later rebuild new ones, sewing costumes for a school play... Just a bunch of God's friends anonymously loving people that they haven't met before in their lives..."
"...There is no doubt that God is busy orchestrating the next great awakening of His church to relevance and activeness in the lives of those who are in desperate need, spiritually and physically, Swazi 1000 is not the solution to the problem, but merely an attempt to use its influence in exposing an emerging generation to the various possibilities in which we can make a difference at home..."
"... Transformation comes as we, through these seemingly insignificant actions, challenge our own selfish nature and the resulting culture of apathy. The unseen tasks snowball into a spiritual wave that moves mountains, and a generation is radically renewed by love ..."
